This gauge was developed to allow reloaders to verify that the case headspace of bottleneck cartridges has not been compromised during resizing.

What is headspace?

Simply put, it is one of the critical dimensions in the shoulder area of the case. If the headspace dimension of the case does not match the firearm’s chamber, problems can occur. In principle, two situations may arise:

• The case is larger than the chamber (insufficient headspace) – the bolt will not close.
• The case is smaller than the chamber (excessive headspace) – there is a risk of case rupture.

With this gauge, you can quickly and easily check your cartridges for compliance and discard any that are out of specification.
